  • joined Sussex Police on a night shift (one of my best nights ever!)

  • asked for the Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town at the Breakfast Club, London which allowed me to walk through a Smeg fridge into a secret cocktail bar in the basement

  • visited 10 filming locations in London including Harry Potter and Bridget Jones's Diary

  • visited stunning Italian-looking Portmeirion, Wales

  • went on the longest zip wire in Europe (1.5 kilometres long) & the fastest in the world at Zip World, Penrhyn Quarry, Wales

  • visited all English and Welsh counties

  • learnt to play something on an unfamiliar musical instrument

  • studied at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, London

  • went to ‘adult night’ at the largest indoor play area near Portsmouth (including slides and ball pits) in pjs and with freckles drawn on and hair in bunches

  • watched sunrise at Beachy Head, Sussex

  • completed Couch to 5K  

  • visited a Caribbean rainforest

  • played the bagpipes in Scotland

  • drove to John O’Groats, Scotland

  • visited the Bucket List Café, Glasgow (an accidental yet extraordinary find whilst searching for bagpipes!)

  • had afternoon tea at Highclere Castle (known as ‘Downton Abbey’) in Berkshire

  • had afternoon tea up the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, Hampshire

  • played Pooh Sticks at Pooh Bridge in Ashdown Forest, Sussex

  • had breakfast whilst watching the sun rise from the Duck and Waffle Restaurant, London which is about 40 floors up

  • helped the keepers at Trentham Monkey Forest, Staffordshire feed monkeys their breakfast by coming in an hour before the park opened

  • had an owl swoop onto my arm

  • visited 25 countries in one year that I'd never been to before to celebrate my 50th birthday

  • took part in a flash mob with more than 200 others 

  • did karaoke in Japan (where solo karaoke is a thing so it's easy to book a booth)

  • did a free belly dancing taster class

  • attended dance classes as an adult

  • went on a gondola in Venice, Italy

  • rented a house in France on my own for a week 

  • went parasailing in Cyprus

  • went to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece

  • went on a traditional wicker basket sledge down the hills of Madeira

  • completed 100 days of DuoLingo learning a new language

  • caught a train at the world's busiest train station (Shinjuku, Tokyo) at rush hour

  • went on the Shinkansen (bullet train) in Japan
